09 Aug 2012 First phase of £530,000 revamp completed at Sharley Park Leisure Centre BYTom Walker
A new fitness suite has opened at Sharley Park Leisure Centre in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, following the first phase of a £530,000 redevelopment.
The new space includes 40 stations of resistance and cv equipment - including IFI-accredited kit - as well as 15 group cycling bikes.
Work also included making the building more energy efficient. Disabled access has also been improved with a new wheelchair-accessible poolside viewing area, and work to refurbish the reception area is underway.
The centre is owned and operated by North East Derbyshire District Council. The council's principal building contractor and leisure services partner, Pulse, has been responsible for delivering the facility within a former bar area at the centre.
